We have an exciting a opportunity for a HSE Advisor to support the site leadership in our journey for zero harm, based at our Ross Ceramics Limited site, in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.
Aviation and Aerospace Component Manufacturing, Ross Ceramics Limited (A part of the Rolls-Royce Group) has expertise in the manufacture of complex geometry ceramic cores used in the investment casting of high performance directionally solidified and single crystal gas turbine engine components both for aerospace and industrial applications.
As a Health, Safety and Environment Advisor you will provide professional subject matter expertise on HSE issues to your assigned responsibilities to improve the HSE Management System and performance, demonstrating HSE expectations in everything you do. You will be responsible for delivering agreed business improvement plans (based on your expert understanding of local HSE performance) and respond proactively to incidents. You will also support the local drive to best HSE practice.

What you will be doing:
Support local management and others in identifying hazards or significant changes, assessing the risks and identifying the associated risk reduction or mitigation actions. Provide subject matter expertise as required to advise local management. Monitor local risks and action closure as part of HSE governance.
Leadership and Culture
Deputise for others as directed. Support sector and functional initiatives, including outside local area, as directed. Promote the importance of HSE and assist in raising the standards through local management and supporting cultural change.
Governance
Engage with local stakeholders or resources to propose and establish a governance structure that is fit for purpose. Monitor the effectiveness of governance by the submission of progress, risk, actions and other reports as required. Identify issues and escalate where necessary. Provide SME support in the governance structure and act as the point of contact for HSE where necessary.
Standards and Compliance
Identify local compliance requirements and undertake a gap analysis on these and the sector wide requirements locally as directed. Support the development of improvement programmes, deliver the assigned aspects and monitor progress. Interface with Regulators and identify future compliance requirements as required.
Emergency Planning
Utilise local knowledge to support development of credible local emergency planning scenarios and responses. Assist local business preparedness and deliver emergency response. Review effectiveness as needed and highlight areas of improvement and implement changes as instructed.
Shared Learning
Respond to incidents in accordance with emergency plans and communicate onwards as required. Coach supervisors to investigate an incident and to collate and submit a report in line with requirements. Collate incident data, identify trends and produce data reports as directed. Monitor and report on action closure and escalate issues when necessary. Implement local improvements as instructed.
Performance Reporting
Identify additional local data requirements and set up arrangements to collect these. Collate, enter and undertake initial data validation as instructed and present in accordance with functional requirements. Analyse data to monitor local HSE Performance and initiate local reduction / improvement actions.
Planning
Provide information to clarify local risk based improvement priorities and run and maintain demands for the development of the HSE programme. Help prepare specific improvement activity plans. Deliver assigned aspects of the programme and monitor progress locally. Support the communication of the HSE programme.
Assurance
Enable and perform where necessary assurance activities, as defined by the line manager. Coach supervisors on inspection activities and monitor, analyse and report on progress. Escalate issues or improvements where necessary.
Right Capability
Identify local development requirements and feed into the overall plan. Track organisation development progress, including the rollout of training and coaching. Identify any personal development requirements, agree priorities with your manager and actively engage in your development.

- NEBOSH Qualified with a proven track record in a HSE role
- Background in manufacturing, engineering or foundering would be beneficial
- Motivated, self-starter who can drive projects and issues through to resolution and take ownership for solution implementation.
- Confident communicator who can engage and influence at all levels within the business.
- Good knowledge on HSE management systems
