Working as part of our Stores & Pharmacy team to provide an accurate and efficient service, undertaking a wide range of pharmacy activities.

The post holder will be responsible for:
  • Ordering, receiving and storing medicines and pharmacy stock in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Effective stock rotation within the Stores area.
  • Picking & packing of orders / drugs bags.
  • Carrying out checking and other quality control processes.
  • Supporting the returns and disposal processes.
  • Liaising with relevant Pharmacy staff regarding issue resolution.
On a daily basis, act as a point of contact for enquiries from staff from other departments, acting with professionalism at all times.
  • Responsible for managing problems and issue resolution, escalating issues to Pharmacy Technician if required.
  • Develop strong relationships in order to provide daily supervision and workload planning for team members to ensure a safe and effective service.
  • Provide support to Stores and Pharmacy staff across the Trust at multiple sites.
  • Provide training and supervision to Pharmacy Assistants.
Planning and Performance
  • Responsible for the bulk repacking of drug bags using a standard check list, under the supervision of a Senior Pharmacy Assistant.
  • Use the Trust’s medicines management systems (paper or electronic) to maintain an accurate audit trail for medicines from order to issue to a drug bag, inputting batch and expiry dates for all medicines.
  • Responsible for maintaining and rotating a stock of medicines in the Pharmacy using agreed minimum and maximum stock levels and regular stock checks. Stock levels must be commensurate with operational efficiency without increasing the potential for waste.
  • Responsible for ensuring medicines related paperwork is retained in line with Information Governance Retention Schedule.
