The post holder will be required to work within the Nottingham University Hospital’s Plastics, Burns and Sarcoma Department at the City campus and take responsibility for: managing the inpatient and day case waiting lists in accordance with the Trust waiting list targets, and handling associated telephone calls.
You will have an understanding of Waiting lists and theatre lists. You will also be able to prioritise your workload with constantly changing demands, meet agreed deadlines and use your own initiative. This includes ensuring referrals are dealt with in a timely manner and dealing with enquiries from patients and clinicians both in person, email and on the phone. Knowledge and experience of RTT validation would be advantageous.
A good telephone manner with the ability to show initiative and flexibility in answering queries from patients, nursing staff and doctors is essential as well as an efficient and empathetic manner
Main duties of the job
Responsible for adding/removing patients to the NUH waiting list, requesting pre-operative assessments and co-ordinating/booking admission to hospital, using hospital IT systems, e.g. Careflow and Bluespier.
Placing funding requests for patient procedures with the appropriate Integrated Care Board.
Act as the first point of contact within the Trust for patients who have enquiries regarding admission details and waiting list queries, liaising either in person, telephone, email
Responsible for management and accurate validation of consultant waiting lists in line with 18 week RTT targets, maintaining accurate records to ensure all admissions for elective procedures are outcomed and completed on Medway PAS, in line with the Trust Access Policy.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good command of the English language – both written and spoken. GCSE Level or equivalent standard in Maths/English
- NVQ Level 2/3 Business Admin
Desirable criteria
- Experience of hospital systems such as MEDWAY NOTIS and Medical Office.
Experience

- A recent past NHS experience
- Demonstrate knowledge of waiting list processes
